Fiji lies in the middle of the Pacific Ocean just 4 hour flying from Sydney 9 hours from Honolulu and 12 from Hong Kong. The Mamanuca Islands in the West are the most popular cruising grounds and are located close to the Nadi International Airport and Port Denarau the main Port of Call. There are also the spectacular Yasawa Islands to the North and many other exotic destinations to the east of Suva towards Tonga and the Lau group.

The most popular cruising area starts at Malolo Island just 10 miles from Nadi International Airport and Denarau and extends to the top of the Yasawa Island chain more than 100 miles north and includes many quiet and protected anchorages and bays that offer fantastic snorkelling and sightseeing. Fiji is famous for its friendly people and the spectacular scenery and unspoilt beaches and marine environment. Fiji receives less than 700,000 visitors annually and is still pristine in many areas. There are two main islands in Fiji—Viti Levu and Vanua Levu. These islands, collectively, account for around 87% of the country’s population, with over three quarters living in Viti Levu’s coastal urban centres. Suva (the CBD), Nadi (the tourist hub) and Lautoka (the base for the sugarcane industry) are amongst Fiji’s most popular urban centres and each fall within the Coral Coast, Denarau and Momi Bay regions.

Fiji is a tropical destination with year-round air and water temperatures of about 80 degrees and two main seasons, summer and winter.

The ideal time to visit is during the clear, dry winter months of May to November. Yet even during the more humid summer months of December to March showers can be sporadic (typically late-afternoon and overnight) and there's usually plenty of sunshine.
